Operations
AmbuTrans is accepting applications for Medical Attendants, however we are not currently interviewing for new positions.
This position entails working on a non-emergency ambulance vehicle as a member of a two person crew. Under the direction of the AmbuTrans Communications Centre, each crew is directed via two way radio to provide service to hospital patients and others who require transportation by stretcher on a non-emergency basis.
Most calls are for service to or from Hospitals, Nursing or Retirement Homes and private residences. Service is provided from bed-to-bed, including carrying patients up or down stairs on stair chairs. Medical Attendants are expected to monitor all clients throughout each trip, monitor vital signs and provide verbal reports to receiving medical staff or family members.
AmbuTrans considers applicants who have a solid background or training in the medical field. We currently employ Paramedics, EMT’s, Nurses, and foreign trained Physicians as well as others with suitable qualifications. Applicants must have as a minimum requirement: current First Responder and First Aid with CPR C or greater certification, be in good physical health and possess the strength to lift and carry clients on stretchers.
Additional requirements are a valid driver’s license, recent driver abstract and successful completion of an in-house driving test.
Communications
AmbuTrans is currently accepting applications for the position of Dispatcher and Call Taker, however we are not currently interviewing for new positions.
AmbuTrans Dispatchers are responsible for coordinating the movement of vehicles by two way radio and assisting clients in arranging non-emergency ambulance transportation service over the phone.
All positions are permanent, full time and involve shift work, including weekends and overnights. AmbuTrans is a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week service.
Successful applicants must possess superior customer service skills, have a good knowledge of the Greater Toronto Area, possess above average computer and keyboarding skills and have the ability to multi-task.
Maintenance
Currently accepting applications for Maintenance Mechanics and Maintenance Technicians, however we are not currently interviewing for new positions.
AmbuTrans operates its own in house maintenance facility staffed by Mechanics and Maintenance Technicians. Our Maintenance Technicians are responsible for performing routine daily safety checks, assigning vehicles to operations staff, restocking vehicles with equipment and clean linen, checking fluids, belts and hoses, ensuring the exterior and interior cleanliness of all fleet vehicles, maintaining contact via two way radio with the AmbuTrans Communications Centre and servicing trouble calls as required.
Maintenance Technicians are also required to drive company vehicles, perform routine maintenance jobs and repairs, under the supervision of a Mechanic, maintain shop cleanliness, work with minimal supervision and perform safety and security checks. AmbuTrans is a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week operation and, as such, this position involves shift work including weekends and overnights.
